The Role

Inspiring and enthusiastic member of staff required with experience in teaching Vocational Health & Social Care to Level 2 and Level 3.

There is the potential for a Course leader opportunity for suitably qualified candidates.  

We are looking for a full-time member of staff with dynamism and passion for their subject. With a friendly, supportive team, and exceptional College facilities, this is an exciting time to join our growing College.  

Applications from ECTs and Teachers in Schools and Sixth Form College sectors are welcome. A full mentoring programme is arranged to introduce all new staff to sixth form college systems and procedures and to support and encourage professional development. We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join the team, and inspire our students. We expect high performance from all our staff and candidates should demonstrate their ability and suitability to both the role and the culture of the College.

The Department

Social Sciences is a large and successful department which covers Vocational Health & Social Care and Vocational Children’s Play, Learning and Development and A Level Sociology.

Exam results are very good with 100% pass rate in Health & Social and Child Development and 96% pass rate in Sociology. Students go on to study at university, take up apprenticeships or go into the workplace. During their studies at College all students taking the Vocational Courses complete work experience organised by the careers department at Woking College.

Students are encouraged to extend their learning out of lesson time and the Department hosts a range of extracurricular activities including guest speakers and educational visits as well as short courses: for example, a recent short course on Autistic Spectrum Disorder which encouraged students to investigate academic research and explore realistic, ethical and practical outcomes.

The Department has high expectations of its students and is proactive in offering a range of support to ensure students meet their targets. These include study support workshops, one to one personalised support and an Easter revision conference.

The Department is based in a new purpose built teaching block completed in January 2023 offering  8 spacious classrooms and a dedicated student study space.

Salary: £32,895 to £48,355 pa, depending on experience (including fringe allowance). These figures include the 6.5% pay increase.
