Job description

What you will do in your working day

Laura Brennan Equine Centre is a small, friendly, family run centre and have established a strong reputation across the area. They have done this through their caring and professional approach to both horse and rider.

General duties for the apprentice to include (but not be limited to):

• Mucking out
• Turning out/bringing in
• Tack cleaning
• Tacking up
• Feeding
• Filling hay nets
• Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
• Bathing
• Rug changing
• Paddock maintenance
• Schooling
• Riding available
• First aid
• Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
• Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

The training you will be getting

• You will be working towards the Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship
• All training will be done at the employers premises with the employer and supported by Haddon Training
• If you have not achieved grade 4/C or above in maths and English already, Haddon Training will support you to complete Functional Skills in these qualifications at Level 2 (equivalent to grade 4 GCSE)

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

• For the right candidate, there will be the possibility of full-time standard employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship
