SEND Teacher PEP Advisor

Middlesbrough

£760 per week

About the role

The role is for a PEP (Personal Educational Planner) Advisor
- As a SEND Teacher PEP Advisor, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of Children in our Care in transition from year 11 to Post 16 including SEND alongside the child/young person's allocated social worker and designated teacher ensuring their full inclusion within education.
- As a SEND Teacher PEP Advisor Work closely with partners, such as Pathways, Work Readiness Team, and Middlesbrough College to ensure the best outcome for our children in care and care leavers.
- Chair the NEET clinic, which is a multi-agency meeting to discuss NEET children in Middlesbrough.
- The SEND Teacher (PEP advisor) Produce monthly reports to the senior leadership team, identifying areas of development and recommendations for improvement.
- Work closely with other agencies to support NEET children into Employment, Education or Training.
- Be the first point of contact and support for carers, social care and school staff on key issues including school admissions, transitions, attendance, emotional health and well-being, suspensions and exclusions and special educational needs.
- Monitor and promote the attainment and progress of Children in our Care, including the appropriate allocation and use of Pupil Premium Plus funding.
- Monitor and evaluate the compliance and quality of Personal Education Plans regarding how they effectively meet the needs of the child in ensuring positive progress and outcomes and produce appropriate reports where relevant.
- Ensure children and young people's views are represented and contribute to the setting of SMART targets to improve their educational outcomes.
- Use data effectively to identify those children who may be at risk of persistent absence, exclusion, mental ill health, or underachievement and undertake appropriate action to establish strategies to remove barriers to their learning.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with professionals from other services and agencies providing advice, support and challenge to schools and other professionals on outcomes for individual children.
- Maintain appropriate records of case work, including up-to-date information maintained on the electronic database.
- Together with schools, assist in the commissioning of enrichment opportunities for children in our care and previously cared for children.
- Provide general support, advice, information and/or signposting to schools, social.
- Care colleagues and parents/carers of Children with a Social Worker or Previously
- Cared for Children on educational matters.
- To represent the Virtual School at a variety of multi-agency meetings when required.
- To lead on and support professional training for teachers and support staff, social workers, carers or other stakeholders.
- Share good practice to raise the profile of children in our care and the understanding of how adverse childhood experiences impacts on their learning and educational outcomes.
- To contribute to the Service Development Planning process.
- To undertake such other duties and responsibilities which could reasonably be construed as being within the remit of the post or which arises from changes in legislation, regulations, orders, and reviews of working practices and procedures.

Assignment Details

This role will commence after February half term and will last for the remainder of the academic year.

Person Specification
- Must Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Driving Licence and access to a car with business insurance
- Experience working with children with SEND/SEMH conditions.
- Knowledge of child development and learning needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must hold a DBS on update service or willing to apply for one.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt lessons as needed.
- Good organization and multitasking abilities
