Job description

PolyMAT is a small and ambitious MAT with a unique family feel that is seeking a Teacher of Art & Design.  Our vision is ‘Success for Everyone’ and the successful candidate will help deliver this for our schools. We currently have three schools in our Trust: Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys, a long-successful boys’ school, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls that opened in 2019, and Bannockburn Primary School, a large successful primary that joined the Trust on 1st November 2023. We also have our flourishing Sixth Form provision which is co-educational.

Following the success of our first ever Ofsted inspection at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls, we are looking for dedicated teachers that will join us on our journey in delivering an outstanding education for all our students. By joining us, you will play a vital role in supporting our girls to grow as women whose voices are heard and respected. Through this, we hope that they will become influential mothers, sisters, carers, friends and, ultimately, successful and happy members of society.

We are looking for a creative, passionate, innovative and outstanding teacher of Art & Design. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, friendly and supportive team of Art specialists. The Art Department believes that each of our girls should leave school with a creative spark, the ability to contribute to the arts community, the belief that they can achieve any artistic endeavour with hard work and practice, and the knowledge and passion which inspires them to discuss artworks, visit galleries and continue their interest in art throughout their lives. Most importantly, our girls will develop the ability to express themselves in a creative, imaginative and confident way. 

As a member of our Art team, you will be supported by a committed, passionate head of department and a skilled technician to ensure a high standard of teaching, learning and achievement. You will have your own teaching space with access to new and varied artistic equipment.  

If selected for interview, you will be expected to bring a portfolio of your work and work created by students you have taught to discuss. This portfolio can be digital or physical.

All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced Criminal Record Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service, along with other relevant employment checks, including overseas criminal background checks, where applicable. All new trustees, employees and volunteers will be required to undertake safeguarding training on induction, which will be regularly updated in line with statutory guidance.
