Job description
This role is responsible for ensuring that the product industrialisation team delivers new product within the DFM and DTC requirements for each specific program. This will be delivered in line with Safran PROMPT milestones.
You will have proven experience using a structured approach and a deep understanding of the manufacturing, design and test strategy in order to deliver our new products in line with DFM and DTC expectations. Engaging with R&T, Programmes, Engineering, Suppliers, Product Support and Operations teams to challenge design, manufacturing and test strategies using tools such as DFM/DFA/DFC/PFMEA and champion process capability as required across the site. You will also be working closely with the process industrialisation manager to ensure modern manufacturing techniques are adopted where appropriate. The NPI Project Lead acts as a central focal for product design innovation, leading initiatives targeted at achieving world class design-to-industrialisation performance. • Coordination of Product Industrialisation Engineers to ensure products are industrialised in line with DTC and DFM requirements.
• Ensure test strategy for new products is defined and meets the requirements of each product.
• Acts as focal point of contact for R&T Program management and key interface with Programs, Engineering PLL's, Supply Chain, Quality, Facilities and Operations.
• Drives PROMPT and Production Readiness methodology into all Industrialisation processes.
• Coordination of DVI, FAI, PPAP etc to ensure risks are managed, strategies implemented and product released into production within DFM and DTC targets.
• Champion Design for Manufacture, Design For Assembly, Design For Repair and Design For Cost at all phases of project design review.
• Optimize product design for manufacture – Champion the ‘factory of the future'
• Champion Concurrent Engineering for new and modified Pitstone products, ensuring that we challenge the norm wherever necessary.
• Ensure successful relationships with suppliers are built, maintained and strengthened.
• Contribute and where appropriate, lead technical reviews for new product design.
• Project manage and coordinate the manufacturing Industrialisation of all new products.

• Degree or equivalent in mechanical, electronic, production or manufacturing systems engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience of working within a complex and dynamic multi project environment essential.
• Demonstrated project management and leadership experience within an engineering/operations/Industrialisation environment.
• Demonstrated ability to challenge product design in support of robust and effective manufacturing– DFM / DTC.
• Demonstrable application of Lean Manufacturing methods and ability to identify opportunity and lead improvement activity.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a team of Engineers with a structured approach to ensuring program milestones and budgets are adhered to.
• Detailed financial understanding of cost drivers with an analytical approach to manage product costs.
• Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels, internally and externally.
• An ability to produce concise reports and effective presentations.
• Computer Literate (MS Office / MS Project).
• Must be able to lead and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team to tight deadlines
• Must be energetic, strong influencer, pragmatic and results driven
• Ability to think strategically and see the bigger picture.
• Ability to plan and prioritise work effectively to completion.
• Aerospace or highly regulated industry experience beneficial.
• Electro-mechanical product experience beneficial.
• Project management experience.
• Excellent organisation skills.
• Ability to understand read and write English.
