About the Role

GP Healthcare Alliance, a federation of GP practices in Castle Point and Rochford, is hosting an innovative service to recruit an enthusiastic and committed, full-time paramedic to join Rochford District Primary Care Network. This is a full-time post, working 37.5 hours per week, and covering the four practices that comprise the PCN. 

Paramedics work autonomously within the community at an advanced level of practice, using their enhanced clinical assessment and treatment skills, to provide first point of contact for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems relating to minor illness or injury, abdominal pains, chest pains and headaches. They are health professionals who practice at an advanced level having the capability to make sound judgements in the absence of full information and to manage varying degrees of risk when there are complex, competing, or ambiguous information or uncertainty.

The post holder will demonstrate critical thinking in the decision-making process. They will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to meet the needs of the patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures. The post holder will provide a holistic and clinical service, with support and supervision of GPs, implementing agreed management plans and following approved protocols as appropriate.

The post holder will triage, take a comprehensive history, examine, diagnose, and treat/refer or a range of minor injuries/illnesses/infections as required.

About the Candidate

The appropriate individual will be a qualified and registered paramedic with experience in an acute response/emergency setting. All applicants should have/be:

• Educated to degree/diploma level in paramedicine or equivalent experience.
• Healthcare professional, with an active registration with the relevant regulatory bodies.
• Completed two years ‘consolidation of learning’ period as a newly qualified paramedic.
• A minimum of three years’ experience as a band 6 (equivalent) paramedic.
• Working towards developing masters level or equivalent capability in paramedic areas of practice and has completed and been signed off formally within the clinical pillar competencies of the paramedic FCP/AP roadmap to practice.
• Experience of working as a senior healthcare professional undertaking home visits and/or experience in an emergency setting or clinic base.
• Working knowledge of SystmOne would be advantageous as would experience of ordering and interpreting tests on ICE.
