Job description

Arriva TrainCare have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Fitter to join the team based in Eastleigh. Reporting to the Team leader the purpose of this role is to efficiently carry out maintenance and overhaul of rail vehicles to laid down standards and procedures and to play an active part in continuously improving product quality.

Contract: Permanent contract, with a salary of £39,398.35 per annum working 18:30-06:00 on a 4 on 4 off rota.

What you will be doing?

Carry out work as allocated by the Team Leader within set timescales and to the recognised standards

Work as part of a dedicated storage exam team servicing customer vehicles to laid down procedures (VMI) and job cards as well as and supporting the servicing of ATC vehicles

Carry out arising work and fault finding where necessary

Assist with the shunting of rail vehicles as required, within depot operating limits, and in accordance with all relevant operating procedures

Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI & local instruction

Ensure that work sheets are signed off promptly and correctly on completion of work

Ensure that the appropriate Quality and Environmental procedures and work instructions are adhered to

Attend technical, quality, safety and general briefings ensuring that the necessary action is taken on items raised

What will you need to be considered for this Shift Fitter

NVQ Level 3 certificate in Engineering (or equivalent) preferably in Rail Traction & Rolling Stock

Previous experience, involvement and understanding of rail vehicle heavy maintenance activities

Understanding of depot operations

Ability to interpret engineering drawings

Understanding of production efficiency techniques
