Job description
Hagley Catholic High School is looking to recruit an outstanding, innovative and passionate Assistant Subject Leader of Physical Education with the ability to make a significant contribution to the extracurricular life of boy’s sport.
The successful candidate will be an exceptional practitioner with a good understanding of teaching and learning and a proven track record of motivating learners, stimulating engagement and raising achievement. The successful candidate will have a love of sport and physical exercise and a desire to inspire this in the student’s at Hagley.
The successful candidate’s area of leadership within the department is subject to discussion and specialism. This would be explored at interview and established after appointment. The successful candidate is expected to be up to date with current pedagogy and effective systems of assessment and to use their expertise to support the Subject Leader by contributing to excellent teaching and forward thinking developments within the PE Department.
The PE department has six specialist teachers, all of whom are required to teach a range of curriculum sports at Key Stages 3 and 4, and enrichment at Key Stage 5. GCSE and A-Level PE are delivered based upon subject specialisms and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this curriculum. The staff within the department promote and deliver a high level of extracurricular provision. Students at the school compete at District, Regional and National levels of competition in a range of sporting activities.
