Service Line:

Post: Full time (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm)

Salary: £26,086 per year

Summary of the site

Location:  Cygnet Hospital Harrow, London Road, Harrow-on-the-hill, HA1 3JL

Cygnet Harrow is a 50 bedded hospital based in one of the most beautiful areas in London. We have a variety of different wards, including male high dependency rehabilitation, and male acute services. We cater predominantly for the LD/ ASD services on 2 of our wards. We have a designated qualified OT and OTA on each ward as well as an Activity Coordinator supporting the activities on the acute ward.

We are currently looking for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy Team to support recovery and rehabilitation activities in the integrated care pathway at Cygnet. You will mainly be working on the male rehabilitation wards but there will be some crossover and opportunity for rotation to the acute ward as you progress within the role.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also be working with the in-house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.

In this role you will:

Provide support to occupational therapists through assessing and analysing strengths and needs, providing interventions, reporting on progress, and supporting individuals in our care to achieve their personal goals and aspirations.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and over 300 OT support staff. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapy team members have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Preceptorship & Induction:

Starting a new job can be daunting, which is why we have a robust induction process that enables you to shadow staff, discuss your learning and receive expert support to develop into your role. We offer an Occupational Therapy Assistant preceptorship programme in your first 12 months to support and consolidate core skills.  We also offer regular, virtual Q&A sessions with our clinical lead OT and networking with other OT Assistants and Activity Coordinators in your service line.

Requirements
