Job description
Greenway Women's Group are seeking to appoint a motivated individual to take lead responsibility in the role of Practice Leader. To work, care and enable learning & development for children under the age of 4,
Main Duties
Take lead responsibility by way of active participation in conjunction with the Childcare Managers in providing a caring and stimulating environment, which meets the individual needs of all the children attending. Encourage, enable, stimulate and ensure the well-being of all children placed in the designated childcare room in line with both current legislation and organisational policies
Take the lead responsibility in communicating to all staff, trainees, and/or volunteers the importance of ensuring the confidentiality of all personal information regarding children, their families or other staff, which may be learnt as part of your role, at all times
Support the Childcare Managers in providing and implementing a stimulating and varied programme of play, in order to enhance each child’s abilities; and in a way which ensures the safety and well-being of children at all times
Take the lead supporting and encouraging all staff, trainees, and/or volunteers in working with parents/carers of special needs children to ensure their full integration within the designated childcare room
Take the lead responsibility in supporting and encouraging staff members in ensuring the completion of systematic observations and assessments of each child’s individual needs and plan to meet these needs in conjunction with the childcare team and Childcare Managers
Take lead responsibility for preparing the designated childcare room. Ensuring it is set up before the children arrive and tidied up after the children leave on a daily basis and a high level of hygiene is maintained at all times
Take lead responsibility in encouraging, supporting staff, trainees, and/or volunteers to ensure that all equipment and play materials are stored in a logical manner and in a way which promotes the child/children’s independence when choosing play materials
Take the lead responsibility in encouraging and supporting all childcare staff, trainees and/or volunteers in assisting children at mealtimes, offer help where needed and ensure that these are sociable, enjoyable occasions for everyone
Take lead responsibility by way of encouraging and supporting staff, trainees and/or volunteers to listen to, encourage, enable and stimulate the children both on an individual level and as part of a team approach
Take lead responsibility to encourage and support staff, trainees, and/or volunteers to provide a high standard of both room and personal hygiene appropriate to the age and stage of development of the child and ensuring a rotation of duties to ensure equality and promotion of a harmonious, effective team working environment within the room
Take the lead in maintaining an open, appropriate and friendly relationship with parents/carers
Take the lead in integrating with centre staff in order to ensure a harmonious and effective team-working environment
Be flexible in working with various age groups from birth to three years
Any other duties as may be deemed appropriate by your line manager.
Qualifications/Experience
Recognised childcare qualification to QCF Level 3 or equivalent, plus 1years’ experience in working with children under 4yrs of age or working towards a QCF Level 3 qualification.
Experience of providing and planning and implementing a structured play environment
Excellent communication skills, with children and adults
To work effectively as part of a team
Good organisational skills
