Job description
This role has a starting salary of £27,484.80 per annum, based on a 28.8 hour working week. This is a 3 year fixed term / secondment opportunity until 31/03/2027.
We are excited to be hiring a new Health and Wellbeing Coach Lead to join our fantastic Be Your Best Team. The team is based in Quadrant Court, Woking but we promote a hybrid approach to working, meeting collaboratively when required.

About the Role
Like all roles at Active Surrey, you can expect this to be fun, rewarding and challenging. No two days will be the same! Your role will be to deliver six, 1:1, healthy lifestyle sessions either in schools or family homes. The key will be using behaviour change techniques to affect lifestyle changes and to unpick other issues facing families for onward signposting. Families are offered six online group sessions on topics such as The Eatwell Guide, sugar swaps, sleep, exercise, and screen time.
You will be responsible for training and overseeing Junior Health Coaches, similarly passionate about improving the lives of families who need it most. You will be experienced in working with young people and families in need and have an excellent knowledge of key health messages regarding nutrition and physical activity. As BYB is a Surrey wide programme, you will need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle. Full training will be given.
Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
Patient, empathetic and a want to help those that need it the most.
Non-judgmental and able to really listen to the young person / family.
Solid health improvement knowledge combined with first class communication.
Experience of delivering health and wellbeing interventions to children and young people.
Ability to recognise and respond appropriately to young people and families in sometimes challenging situations.
An understanding of behaviour change.
Awareness of onward referral / signposting options for the family.
Able to advocate the importance of physical activity and healthy eating.
IT literate with accurate data recording skills.
