Job description

This new opportunity has arisen following the expansion of the early education entitlements and the National Wraparound Childcare Programme.

The Childcare Sufficiency Officer role will support the Early Years and Childcare sector to ensure there are sufficient childcare spaces available through planning and development activities linked to the Local Authority’s statutory duties under the Childcare Act (2006). There will be a specific focus on childminders and wraparound care.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, dedicated, and enthusiastic early years practitioner to support new and existing childcare providers to increase sufficiency, develop sustainability and promote our pathways to registration. They must have the appropriate, knowledge, skills and experience of the Early Years Foundation Stage and relevant local and national priorities for the early years sector.

The role will include scrutiny and analysis of data to determine need, delivery of training, supporting access to grants and dissemination of statutory guidance. The role is hybrid working, but there will be extensive travel around the county to early years and childcare settings and corporate buildings. The location of the post is negotiable.
