We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy and Special Interest Projects team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. This role can be worked flexibly with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting the delivery of a wide variety of small and large schemes spanning the RIBA Work Stages 2-7, including energy infrastructure (sub stations), commercial, industrial, leisure, and other interesting projects in remote locations (e.g. British Antarctic Survey Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP)).

What does the role involve?

As our Mechanical Engineer, you will support the delivery of the mechanical aspects of energy and building services related projects, conducting the design of mechanical systems and preparing drawings and specifications for equipment.

Duties will be varied but include the following:

Performing mechanical building services design including input to energy and renewables projects.
Performing building heat demand calculations.
Preparing feasibility, concept design and implementation studies.
Undertaking detail design of building services and energy projects.
Developing relationships with Clients and key suppliers.
Working in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines as required.
Working with teams conducting site survey work and ensuring that the work is carried out in accordance with Client and Sweco Health & Safety procedures.
Ensuring that the technical content of all work conducted is correct and completed in accordance within agreed timescales and budgets.
To be successful in this role you’ll possess some of the following:

Experience of using CIBSE guidelines for building HVAC design.
Experience of the design and specification of heat generation and associated distribution equipment, ventilation equipment and ductwork systems, public health equipment and associated distribution equipment.
Experience of conducting building energy and condition surveys.
Demonstrable experience in a similar role with strong project management skills.
Strong problem-solving skills to work alongside clients, architects, and contractors to solve problems and come up with innovative solutions.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to adjust your style to suit the audience.
Knowledge and experience in the use of Revit, AutoCAD and IES software would be advantageous.
A degree in Building Services Engineering, or other related degree/masters.
