Your Role
Stockport Family is looking for a social worker with at least 2 years post qualifying experience to join our First Response social work team in the Multi Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub (MASSH). As a First Response social worker within the MASSH you will be required to respond to contacts made into the MASSH in a timely way to identify and secure the most appropriate service to support and safeguard children and families. You will communicate with families, members of the public and partner agencies to enable you to analyse historical and current concerns about children and their families in order for you to carry out timely multi-agency MASSH assessments and recommendations. You will have a good understanding of statutory social worker functions and be confident in making informed threshold decisions.
What do social workers say about working in Stockport MASSH?
“After working as a locality social worker for 5 years, I moved to the MASSH as a Senior Social Work Practitioner. The MASSH offers an enjoyable new challenge; being the first point of contact with families; identifying early help support to allow families to continue leading their lives without social care intervention; assessing risk and acknowledging when there is a need for safeguarding input. It is a fast-paced and demanding role, however there is a real benefit to families and children through the work carried out on the MASSH.” Geraldine, Senior Social Work Practitioner
This is an exciting time for experienced social workers to join Stockport Family. If you act restoratively, think systemically and keep children at the heart of your practice, we would love to hear from you!

• Co-located, integrated working bringing social workers, health and education services together so you can get the help you need quickly for families
• Specialist services to support you when you are working with complex issues, such as high-risk domestic abuse, substance misuse or other complex safeguarding issues
• Innovative and creative ways of working so that there are always opportunities for your personal development and to learn how to do things differently.
