Job description
Our client is the UK’s largest supplier of snack cucumbers to British Supermarkets.
A three-generation agricultural nursery specialising in fruit – specifically snack (baby) cucumbers but anything that grows on ground
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role as a Horticultural Manager/Grower located in Roydon. The business is looking to expand. The Horticultural Manager/Grower will be responsible for supervising the horticultural program, managing the plant inventory, and ensuring the quality of the plants and products. The Horticultural Manager/Grower will also plan and coordinate planting schedules, harvest schedules, and manage the production forecast.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience managing a horticulture program in a commercial greenhouse or nursery.
Ability to supervise and manage a team of horticultural workers, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
Excellent knowledge of growing techniques, including propagation, transplanting, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control.
Experience with quality control, plant inventory management, and production forecasting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Computer proficiency, including MS Office and specialized software used in horticulture or agriculture.
Knowledge of organic certification, sustainable agriculture practices, and certifications preferred.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and to lift 50 lbs.
This is a Full time position with requirements to work 7 days a week.
Salary £30k- £40k but negiotiable for the right person
