We are thrilled to offer a fulfilling role as a Criminal Justice Drug & Alcohol Keyworker. In this position, you will manage a caseload of individuals within the criminal justice system who are grappling with mental health challenges, housing issues, substance misuse concerns, including those at risk of abuse, and individuals who have historically struggled to engage with community support. Our Welshpool service is a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, comprising service manager, doctor, nurse, recovery staff, volunteers, and peer mentors. Together, we share an unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of support and interventions to individuals who rely on our services.

Location: Welshpool Powys

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £22500 - £24,500

About The Role

As a Criminal Justice Drug & Alcohol Keyworker, your primary focus will be on supporting individuals who access our services from point of arrest to leaving the prison system. This includes those receiving Drug Rehabilitation Requirements (DRR), Alcohol Treatment Requirements (ATR), and individuals participating in the Drug Test on Arrest program/Arrest Referral Scheme. You will also engage with individuals involved in other aspects of the criminal justice system, including court proceedings. Your role encompasses various responsibilities, including one-to-one key work, facilitating group work programs, providing case management, and collaborating with partner agencies such as prisons, police, probation, and courts. This collaborative effort ensures that individuals accessing our Welshpool service have the opportunity to improve and transform their lives.

Your Duties Will Also Involve

• Carry a caseload of individuals in the CJ system who are experiencing challenges with mental health, housing, substance misuse, including people at risk of abuse and those who have historically struggled to engage with support in the community.

• Fostering information sharing and shared processes among relevant partners to create a safe, seamless, and successful plan from police custody.

• Collaborating with local communities and criminal justice partners to ensure the provision of naloxone and overdose prevention information upon release.

• Conducting screening, assessments, and recovery planning, along with onward referrals.

• Assisting criminal justice services in understanding local drug and alcohol support, treatment pathways, and harm minimisation approaches.

• Supporting service users in their social (re)integration journey, empowering them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives through promoting recovery, resilience, peer support, and self-determination.

About You

To excel in this role, you should:

• Experience in substance misuse or a related field.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Empathy, patience, resilience, and a commitment to helping others.

• Ability in conducting comprehensive assessments and treatment plans.

• A focus on service user needs.

• Knowledge of substance misuse and similar areas, along with proactive problem-solving skills and IT proficiency.
