Interim Senior Legal Counsel
This highly regarded healthcare regulator, one of the largest in the UK, is looking to recruit an interim Senior Counsel to lead the advisory function on a six month contract.
The role will involve taking the lead for the in-house advisory team on all legal advice on relevant acts, legislation and public law matters and ensuring that accurate, risk-based advice is provided to colleagues across the organisation. It will also have a wide remit in terms of advising around any matters that may affect the regulator such as FoI, data protection and judicial review. As the leader of the legal team, you will also manage relationships with external advisors, lead on legal challenges and provide executive and strategic advice with a clear decision making path.
Suitable candidates must be qualified as a practising solicitor or barrister in England and Wales and have substantial knowledge of health regulations and administrative legal frameworks in the UK. You should be able to demonstrate experience of undertaking complex litigation, advising on and drafting legislation and have a strong track record of providing advice and support to key Executive decision makers. As a team leader, you should be able to demonstrate clear management experience and to have taken responsibility for delivering timely, quality legal advice. You must have experience gained within a public sector organisation or closely advising public sector clients as part of a role.
The role is to start immediately, likely as a six month contract and offers hybrid working.
