Location: Micheldever
Hourly Rate: £20ph
Start Date: 02/04/2024
Duration: Until end September 2024, then on a 6 monthly rolling basis
Closing Date: 14/03/2023

Thriving in the public sector, our client leads with an adept in-house team proficient in diverse property functions. From civil engineering to project management, they excel across a spectrum of services, including contract management, surveying, asset management, and planning.

Role Summary:
As a Lab Technician, you'll play a crucial role in supporting civil engineering projects, contributing to surveys, and ensuring compliance with technical standards and health and safety regulations. This dynamic role requires a combination of laboratory work, site visits, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare surveys and essential information to record the condition of highways and related sites.
• Format survey data for use by designers, clients, and stakeholders.
• Liaise with contractors and public utilities to access sites as needed.
• Conduct laboratory tests, record results, and calibrate equipment.
• Prioritise Health and Safety, ensuring adherence to regulations for self and others at all times.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Working towards RQF level 4 or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• Understanding of technical standards, specifications, and quality procedures.
• Some experience in a Civil Engineering or related testing laboratory.

Decision Making Areas:

• Assess equipment calibration and test conditions, with the authority to halt work if necessary.
• Ensure health and safety measures, including traffic management, are in place, with the discretion to halt work if risks are unacceptable.
• Know when to escalate matters to colleagues or line managers.

Working Conditions:

• Balancing work between office and site environments.
• Regular presence on live highways and construction sites, with occasional lone working.
• Effective communication with colleagues, contractors, and developers in challenging conditions.
• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with the role.
