We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire for a Permanent Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full time basis. The role offers a 4 day week with an OOH rota. The OOH rota is 1:6 nights and weekends with time off back in lieu. The Equine Vet is on call from home and not onsite and the calls are triaged through the reception team.
- Type: Permanent Equine Veterinary Surgeon
- Hours: Full time 4 Days per week 8.30am - 6pm
- TOIL: An extra day off the following week after working a weekend
- OOH: 1:6 on call rota for nights and weekends
- Computer System: Merlin
- Consultations: 20 Minutes
- Team: 18 Vets (4 Equine) 17 RVNs, 2 SVNs and a large support team
- Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum pro rata commensurate to experience
The role
- The role is both ambulatory and clinic based so it is ideal for an Equine Vet who likes both the freedom of the ambulatory role but also enjoys developing their skills in clinics. The practice offers operating and inpatient facilities allowing opportunity for growth and development of skills.
- The clinics client base is usually no longer than a 30 minute drive away from the practice which helps to minimise time on the road.
- They see mostly leisure horses and competition horses.
- The Vet will be responsible for providing a high standard of veterinary care and customer service.
- The Vet will be responsible to ensuring that there is excellent communication between themselves and the team and with clients.

- Established mixed animal practice with a large Veterinary team offering a supportive team culture.
- The practice is located in the rural Chilterns so whilst in the lovely countryside it is not far from links to London.
- They have separate small animal and equine departments both of which are RCVS accredited.
- The practice is BEVA accredited for stud work.
- They have certificate holding Surgeons and Surgeons who are currently studying towards certificates. This is encouraged and supported. One Vet is studying towards a certificate in equine orthopaedics and lameness.
- The practice is fully equipped offering a wide range of diagnostics and veterinary services including equipment for dental suite, in house lab, ultrasound, dental and digital x-ray and endoscopy.
- They have a great local reputation and pride themselves on the communication in terms of client care that they provide.
- They provide a support work environment and encourage team members to pursue areas of special interest.
- The practice provides a high standard of care and customer service to all its patients and clients.
