Principal Design Engineer

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Design Engineer to lead the organisation’s talented team in developing next-generation electro-mechanical solutions for Marine and Defence applications. As a key member of the engineering division, you will drive innovation, spearhead design initiatives, and contribute to the growth of our renowned product line.
Responsibilities of a Principal Design Engineer:
- Lead the design and development of electro-mechanical systems for Marine and Defence projects.
- Design and Development of electro-mechanical enclosures, cabinets and consols
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust design solutions.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Conduct thorough analyses, simulations, and testing to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Champion a culture of innovation, continuously exploring new technologies and methodologies.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
Requirements of a Principal Design Engineer:
- Degree Educated or Equivalent in an Engineering subject
- At least 8 Years of proven experience
- Expertise in 3CAD software (Solidworks, Inventor, NX, Catia etc) and AutoCAD for 2D
- Skilled in analysis tools (FEA, CFD etc)
- Able to achieve SC Security Clearance
- Experience in the marine, defence or naval sectors would be beneficial but not a deal-breaker
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Leadership experience, guiding teams to successful project completion.
- Passion for innovation and a drive to create solutions that exceed industry expectations.
