Job description

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)?

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at our SEND school.

This school caters to students aged 5 to 18 with a range of needs, including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This is a rewarding opportunity to support students in a 1:1 capacity and contribute to their academic and personal development.

Contract: Mon - Fri, 8:30AM - 3:30PM - Term Time Only

Salary: M1 - M6 Teaching pay scale - Final salary based on experience

As a Teaching Assistant in our SEND school, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 support to students with Autism, MLD, SLD, and PMLD, assisting them with their learning and personal care needs as required.
- Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities, adapting teaching materials and resources to meet individual needs.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies to promote positive behavior and support students in developing social skills and emotional regulation.
- Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Personal Care Plans (PCPs), monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff and SENCO.
- Facilitating sensory and communication activities to support students' sensory processing and language development, using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Promoting independence and self-confidence in students, empowering them to achieve their full potential and participate fully in school life.
- Supporting students during transitions between activities and environments, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

To be considered for this role, you must have:
- An Enhanced DBS check to ensure the safety and welfare of our students.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a school setting, preferably with experience in supporting students with SEND.
- A QTS or relevant teaching or education qualification, demonstrating your commitment to supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and respond effectively to challenging situations.
