Job description

Job Summary: As the Health and Safety Manager for our large-scale project, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive health and safety program. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all relevant safety standards. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential hazards, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a robust health and safety program for the project, aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  2. Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and areas for improvement.
  3. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to integrate safety measures into project plans and procedures.
  4. Provide safety training and orientation to all project personnel, emphasizing the importance of adherence to safety protocols.
  5. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and provide detailed reports with recommendations for corrective action.
  6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  7. Collaborate with regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  8. Facilitate safety meetings and toolbox talks to promote awareness and engagement among project teams.
  9. Oversee the implementation of emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.
  10. Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to health and safety.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager in large-scale construction projects, preferably in the data centre industry.
  3. Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
  4. In-depth knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations and standards.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization.
  6. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  7. Proficient in the use of safety management software and tools.
