Are you an empathetic Occupational Therapist with a keen interest in mental health?

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Mental Health Occupational Therapist to join our fantastic private client in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This vacancy is available to start as soon as possible, offering part-time hours per week in a locum role for an initial 3-month period.

The site is a 22 bed Neuropsychiatric rehabilitation facility for men affected by acquired brain injuries. 

As a Neuropsychiatry Mental Health Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in providing specialized occupational therapy services to individuals dealing with neuropsychiatric disorders. You will be responsible for creating and implementing tailored treatment plans that help patients regain their independence, manage symptoms, and improve their overall quality of life. Applying therapists must have mental health experience to be considered for this role.

Duties will include:

• Care-coordinating
• Attending MDT meetings
• Contribute to the holistic assessment of physical and mental wellbeing needs.
• Assessment and intervention of individual patients needs and progress.
• Treating patients for a range of moderate to complex mental health conditions
• Working with other healthcare professionals

The Successful Candidate should be/have:

• A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
• They need to have experience of working in mental health due to the complex nature of the patients.
• An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Ability to manage highly demanding clinical presentation
