Job description
Junior Project Manager needed to join this 160 year old global consultancy, which services multiple high hazard industries. You will join the Aerospace and Defence business unit, which delivers on the most technically advanced platforms across the Army, Navy, Airforce and Cyber domains.
Reporting to the Head of Project Management, you will manage and deliver internal and external projects to meet performance, cost, time and quality requirements, as well as being accountable for controls across a complex project environment. You shall also act as an advisor, ensuring the consulting leads are utilising structured techniques, such as project planning and scheduling, cost estimating, monitoring and quality reviews.
This role can be Chippenham or Leatherhead based, but RINA adopts a mature smart/hybrid working environment, where you can manage your time between home, clients and the office.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage project(s) time, cost and quality activities, in line with clients’ needs and RINA’s BMS to ensure project requirements are met;
- Manage delivery to a controlled plan and to required deadlines;
- Ensure application of thorough risk and issue management across the project(s); instigate mitigation actions, identify contingency plans and manage items through to conclusion;
- Baseline management - Develop, set and manage project baseline(s) – manage the reference levels against which a project is monitored and controlled;
- Schedule control - Identify, apply and evaluate schedule control techniques against a timetable; consider factors such as limited resources and estimating uncertainty;
- Analysis and reporting - Analyse and report data to develop a complete and accurate picture of the project(s) that will inform decisions regarding the management, quality and control of projects;
- Establish effective working relationships and communication with all key stakeholders (internal and external), including suppliers, and partners.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- At least three years’ work experience, of which at least 1 year spent in a project management capacity in a commercial organisation;
- Professional Services, Engineerign Services or Consulting experience is preferable;
- Although Aerospace & Defence domain experience is advantageous, we actively accept complimentary experiences from other high hazard domains such as Rail, Infrastructure, Energy, Pharmaceutical, Biological and other Engineering related sectors.
- Preferable working knowledge of design engineering methods and processes (i.e. systems engineering, software integration or cyber assurance);
- Well-developed planning and organisational skills including scope, risk, issue and change management;
- Resource and people management (including matrix management);
- Proven experience of owning, controlling and delivering projects to time, cost and quality;
- Some experience of stakeholder management, both internal and external;
- Professional qualification in project management, such as APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or another recognised qualification (e.g. Prince2 or PMP).
- Current SC clearance or you must be a British citizen, willing to attain Security Clearance.
