We are looking to enhance our capacity to deliver a sustainable preventative offer to schools and to strengthen our emotional well-being and mental health offer in partnership with health colleagues. You will provide psychological support to early years, primary, secondary and specialist settings.As a School Educational Psychologist, you'll be at the forefront of transforming lives and enhancing educational experiences.

Responsibilities Include

Educational psychologists work at various different levels:

• on an individual level - assessing a child’s needs and working with schools to implement provision that meets the identified needs
• at a group level - supporting a set of children with similar needs
• supporting the systems around the child - for example, supporting a school to develop their inclusion policy.
• To deliver a targeted and specialist psychological service of consultation, assessment (including psychometric summative approaches), advice, planning and development work to schools within Wickersley Partnership Trust (that makes a positive difference to a range of clients including head teachers, teachers, parents/carers, pupils and other practitioners).
• To promote and facilitate partnership working, early intervention and integrated local solutions, applying psychology to enhance the learning and development of children.
• To use a variety of techniques when working directly with children and young people to assess their needs. These include observations, assessments of learning and different methods to elicit the voice of the child or young person.
• To consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, social workers, doctors and other people involved in the child’s education to gather information and ensure that family and child centred approaches are applied to working in partnership with parents and children with SEND embracing the principles of Early Support.
• To support schools and parents to develop a range of appropriate interventions and strategies. These can include learning programmes, strategies to support emotional regulation and collaborative work with teachers or parents.
• To quantitatively and qualitatively monitor and evaluate interventions used in schools with students and to communicate examples of good practice.
• To provide a psychological perspective for SEND panel processes, as required, to assist in decision making and efficient use of resources.
• To ensure that relevant national and local Performance Indicator targets are met, particularly with regard to the statutory assessment process.
• To make available consultation, staff development and training to ensure that schools and early years staff have the knowledge and skills that they need to deliver high quality teaching and support for learning to all students, including those with SEN and/or other barriers to their learning and development. To provide in-service training for teachers, teaching assistants and other professionals on issues such as staff wellbeing or a relational understanding of behaviour.
• To develop WPT’s preventative role, including contribution to in-service initiatives and undertaking research and development projects in identified areas of need, completing research and advising on educational provisions and policies.
