Driver Hire is recruiting a Cat C Driver for a super-nice client of ours in Farnborough.  This is an HGV Class 2 job.

Our client distributes awnings and glass panels across the whole of the UK.  These are used to make glass rooms, conservatories and shaded patios.  Deliveries are always made with a driver’s mate too.  The product can be heavy, so you’ll need to be physically fit.  A glass panel may weigh up to about 80kg.  And an awning could be up to 7m long.  Lots of hand-balling is involved, but there are not many deliveries per day.

Typically you need to be prepared to stay out overnight one day per week as well, when on the north of England route.  But this is always in a single room in a hotel, with dinner and breakfast included.

The ideal candidate will have an eye for accuracy, and first class communication and customer service skills. Most days the driver will be supported by a driver’s mate.

You will already have HGV Class 2 experience.

• Salary will be in the region of £32,000
• Inclusion into bonus scheme of up to £2,400pa

• 40 hour week
• Typically 7am start
• Overnight one night per week

****   Responsibilities of the Cat C, HGV Class 2 Driver   ****

• Driving and operating any of the vehicles, but mostly the Class 2.
• Daily walk round checks
• Assist with and supervise the safe loading and unloading of glass panels and awnings
• Deliveries anywhere around the whole of the UK
• Supporting our warehouse teams with loading and unloading as well as the upkeep of vehicles (vehicle checks and so on)
• Adhere to all drivers’ hours rules and tacho regulations

• UK licence with Cat C entitlement
• CPC card
• Digi tacho card
• Verifiable references
• Max 6 minor penalty points
