Job description

Role Summary:

Oversee the delivery of all aspects of the Sports Science and Strength and Conditioning syllabus to all Academy Players to optimise long term athletic development in line with club's philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

The role includes, but is not limited to:

• Co-ordinate and lead the sports science services for the Academy.

• Responsible for the delivery of sports science strategies to the U18s squad.

• Create, deliver and report on fitness testing for the Academy.

• Delivery of warm-ups, injury prevention programme and strength & conditioning sessions across the Academy.

• Create a physical syllabus for all players within the Academy to achieve maximal development, incorporating long-term athletic development.

• Assess & monitor growth and maturation across every age group.

• GPS data collection and reporting back to the multi-discipline team.

• Carry out daily monitoring testing.

• Be an integral part of a multi-discipline team to optimise player development.

• Engage in all Sports Science & Medicine CPD activities as well as any other mandatory training.

• Keep up to date appropriate qualification requirements such as UKSCA and BASES accreditations.

• Competent use of IT software.

• Promote safeguarding within the organisation and create a safe and inclusive environment for all. Report any safeguarding concerns as and when required.

Essential / Desired Requirements:

· BSc Degree in Sports Science (Essential)

· Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF or an FA accepted equivalent) (Essential)

· BASES (or working towards) (Essential)

· UKSCA (or working towards) (Essential)

· Safeguarding Children Certificate (Essential)

· Full driver’s license with access to a vehicle would be desirable.

The Person:

· Excellent levels of communication and organisational skills.

· High standards, shows flexibility in approach.

· Pro-active and good decision making.

· Knowledge of EPPP.

· Recent and relevant professional experience in a sports performance environment.

· From a safeguarding perspective, the successful candidate shall be resilient, self-aware and open to sharing information.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Location: Based primarily at Millwall Academy, SE9 6TE. (However, widespread travelling is required to meet the demands of the games programme.)

Hours of work: Full time. Due to the nature of the role, evening and weekend work will be necessary.
