LGC’s “Grant Management Group” (GMG), is a diverse team of 300 friendly people, who together manage £0.5 billion of health research funding on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care. This means we help decide which organisations are allocated money to develop their health research, and we then monitor that funding. Previously this has included projects around cancer, diabetes, global health and dementia for example. We are very proud to have commissioned critical research supporting the development of the Oxford/Astra Zeneca Covid vaccine. Job Description
We're looking for a Talent Acquisition Partner to join the LGC GMG team, on a 12 month fixed term contract.
The Talent Acquisition Partner will be responsible for shaping, managing and improving the end-to-end recruitment process.
We are looking for someone to build our reputation as an employer of choice, someone who is passionate about sourcing the best talent and candidates to fill our vacancies. The Talent Acquisition Partner will reflect on our successes and failures and constantly seek to improve the way we advertise, interview and offer.
- Provide a tailored end-to-end talent acquisition service, from initial briefing through to direct sourcing, shortlisting/screening candidates and managing the offer process, whilst adding value at each staqe of the recruitment cycle.
- Operate as a trusted advisor to the business, partnering with line managers to evaluate each vacancy and ensure its purpose, profile and budget is appropriate.
- Write engaging job advertisements that attract good quality candidates.
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring shortlists submitted to hiring managers reflect a broad range of candidates wherever possible.
- Promote internal career development opportunities.
- Evaluate advert placement and review recruitment metrics to better understand future opportunities.
- Manage the interview process, including briefing candidates prior to interview.
- Assist with interview and feedback training to ensure candidate experience is excellent.
- Maintain full overview of all GMG recruitment and be able to respond to vacancy queries in real time.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a recruiter/ talent acquisition partner (in-house or agency).
- Experience of using applicant tracking systems (eg Smart Recruiters).
- Experience using job boards and sourcing/headhunting candidates.
- Experience recruiting niche scientific / technical / bio-med / pharma roles or Research Funders would be desirable.
- Understanding of work visa programmes helpful (where applicable).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Passionate about recruiting top talent and providing best-in-class candidate experience.
- Commitment to attracting a diverse workforce.
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and understand the needs of different teams.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent IT skills (G Suite / Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams/Outlook)

NB: We offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, flexible working arrangements. This is an office-based, hybrid role with an expectation for all employees to attend our offices a minimum of 4 days a month, usually worked as 1 day per week, and may increase, subject to team requirements.
Whilst the post is being advertised as a one-year fixed term contract there is a possibility of extension which will be explained at interview.
