What You’ll Accomplish
- Take responsibility for some of the PCB/PCBA designs and realisation.
- Design high-end PCB and PCBA design according to industrial standards.
- Write the documentation of your PCB and PCBA designs.
- Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.
- Maintain the multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists, working towards a common goal.
- Play a key role in building control systems for quantum computers.
- Maintain UQs’ position of using state-of-the-art electronics solutions.
- Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues.
- Engage with project planning activities, risk management and scheduling requirements.
- Help with fast turn-around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.
Requirements
The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates
- Excellent knowledge of PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent layout debug skills.
- Solid knowledge of electronics circuit theory and good EM field theory, including noise analysis and physical device knowledge.
- Experience in library management of parts and managing PCB and PCBA design rules.
Must-have Skills
- 2 to 8 years’ experience in PCB designing using ECAD (e.g., Altium, or similar).
- Experience in high-performance Electronics PCB, and PCBA Design, including HDI design and high pad count BGA layout.
- Good understanding of mechanical design and application.
- Use of spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes and VNA.
- Experience working with suppliers and contractors.
- Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player.
- At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
Nice-to-have Skills
- Experience designing flex, and rigid-flex PCBs.
- A background in one of RF engineering, Research, Metrology or instrumentation.
- Understanding of signal integrity, high-speed digital and EMC.
- Experience with C and/or scripting languages e.g., python and Matlab.
- Experience of Labview.
- Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
- Team and/or project management experience.
