Mechanical Design Engineer


We are currently partnered with a global manufacturing company who specialise in the design, manufacture, and supply of hi-tech equipment. They are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team and design solutions for their large array of clients from the ground up.


The company has been a premier supplier of hi-tech electrical and electro-mechanical solution for many years, and cover a range of industries including communications, computing, and imaging. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of a diverse team of innovative individuals who are all passionate about the solutions they produce and the company they work for. The Mechanical Design Engineer will design solutions from the ground up, working closely with other departments creating concepts through to final products.


Key responsibilities as Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Create 3D CAD designs for new products and solutions.
• Design products that would be suitable for use within harsh environments (shock, thermal extremes, vibration, etc.).
• Produce detailed 3D models and designs incorporating metalwork, machined parts, electrical / electronics.
• Prior to any testing you will be performing FEA / simulations on CAD models.
• Support design reviews both internally and externally with customers.
• Implement any change notes for the updating of drawings.
• Support the purchasing / supply chain.

Experience required as Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Confident abilities in 3D modelling and design using Solidworks software.
• Previous experience designing components / assemblies with metalwork, machined parts, electrical / electronics.
• Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
• Solid understanding of design for manufacture.
• Understand mechanical aspects of designing for products with electrical components, harnesses, PCB, etc.
• A good knowledge of project, systems engineering and business lifecycles.

Mechanical Design Engineer job summary:


Type: Site based
Location: Redditch
Hours: 38 per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £40k to £50k
