In our growing Technical Writing team, we drive the success, growth, efficiency, and overall consistency to develop and deliver best-in-class customer journeys.
As the Lead Technical Author, you will lead a talented team of technical writers, driving success, growth, and efficiency in the development and delivery of top-notch customer journeys. You'll be at the forefront of content strategy, supporting the entire documentation lifecycle and fostering a customer-centric approach to digital experiences.
What you’ll do at Elekta
In this hybrid role, you will dedicate 60% of your time to managing a team of technical writers and 40% will be dedicated to actively participating in technical writing as an individual contributor.
As the Lead Technical Author, you will provide leadership, innovation and technical expertise for the creation, maintenance, and implementation of customer-facing deliverables.
The Lead Technical Author responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Collaborate with leadership in all business initiatives to stay apprised of emerging projects, product updates, potential risks, and documentation requirements.
Manage day-to-day team activities in relation to project deliverables. Ensure team is on track with project timelines.
Define scope of work, prioritize, allocate team resources, produce deliverables, and support translation initiatives for all product releases.
Establish clear definition of team deliverables and priorities. Set clear goals that cascade up to BL goals, meet product release timelines, drive quality and accuracy, estimate project resourcing, and overall team performance.
Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks; escalate critical issues to senior management as needed.
Communicate project status, updates, and issues to stakeholders.
Drive development of deliverables, strategic and operational regulatory input, submission, production, and implementation globally.
Support full documentation lifecycle by directing practices and resources to support iterative content creation along with all release activities.
Regular audit and review of content with focus on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
Engage with assigned scrum team(s) and SMEs to obtain in-depth understanding of the product.
Closely align with your stakeholders, attend PI Planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Scope, plan, track, and execute against release timelines, in close collaboration with stakeholders.
Iterative content creation for new and updated content that is published using DITA XML, per release, in compliance with regulatory and project requirements.
Ensure content is written, stored, single sourced correctly across documents for maximum content reuse.

This role leads by example, empowers decision-making across the team, cultivates partnerships with stakeholders and global functional teams.
Minimum degree or equivalent experience in a scientific or life sciences environment is required.
10+ year’s proven track record to lead a team of technical authors/writing teams.
10+ year’s technical writing experience.
Experience with XML-based authoring tools is required; experience with Ixiasoft CMS highly desirable.
Experience designing and delivering customer-facing deliverables.
Experience with DITA XML.
Experience working with agile project management methodologies.
Experience with iterative content creation.
Proven track record to efficiently operate in a high demand, rapidly shifting/fluid environment.
Previous experience working within medical device industry is highly desirable.
