Job description
Our client is a constantly evolving company that started in 2009. In the last 15 years, they have grown from strength to strength and are looking for a Head of Design to join their friendly and welcoming team. They have completed small works and major works on projects ranging from residential building refurbishments to large sporting sites and retail complexes.
The role:
The Senior Estimator plays a vital role in the estimation and tendering process for construction projects, supporting the company's goal of securing new contracts and contributing to its growth objectives.
The Senior Estimator is responsible for the larger and more complex projects. Client expectations for larger projects are greater and it is the Senior Estimators responsibility to compile robust bids. Liaising and coordinating with design, commercial and construction departments to enhance the submission. Accurate costing, programme, access and logistics strategies are required for successful outcomes.
Conducting detailed take-offs, analysing project specifics, and liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, the Senior Estimator ensures that bids are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with company standards and objectives.
- Conduct full façade and roofing take-offs using Bluebeam software. Be proficient in pricing facade remediation, cladding, roofing, glazing projects with the use of Causeway Estimating system. Responsible for regular maintenance of the Causeway library, liaising with commercial and procurement departments as necessary.
- Effective and robust costings for consultants and large subcontract packages.
- Write bids and proposals to secure new contracts, ensuring compliance with client requirements, company standards and compliance industry regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments to provide technical and logistical reviews for tender submissions.
- Lead tender adjudication meetings and client presentations, presenting proposals and addressing client queries or concerns. Managing client relationships.
- Provide accurate cost forecasting and budgeting support to the senior leadership team, utilising historical data, market trends, and project-specific factors.
- Assist with the preparation of information for regular reports on tendering activities, including bid success rates, project pipeline, and financial performance, for internal review and decision-making. Be influential in department and company improvements.
- Lead client mid-bid and post-tender meetings on bid proposals including presentation of our submission to the client.
- Provide support and mentoring for Estimators. Undertaking Peer reviews of small to mid-level size projects
Experience/Requirements
- Proficiency in Bluebeam software for conducting full take-offs.
- Advanced knowledge of the Causeway Estimating system.
- Strong bid writing skills with a proven track record of successful tender submissions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with UK construction regulations, planning processes, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Identifying and mitigating risks within a tender
