Job description
The purpose of this role is to support the Business Applications Lead and wider business within the Supply Chain technology stream with responsibility for delivering technical and process led solutions that meet the needs of the business.
What you'll be doing...
- Create relationships with key business stakeholders and support the Business Applications Lead by providing a combination of good business knowledge and strong technical SAP skills to deliver technical solutions in SAP and alternative applications that are process aligned.
- Become a ‘value adding partner’ to business stakeholders including working with the Business Applications Lead – Supply Chain in helping the business understand their requirements, challenging where necessary, and then being responsible for designing, building, testing, implementing and supporting the solutions.
- Work in conjunction with your peers and colleagues in the IT Team to ensure that solutions are always robust, well-integrated and enable / provide ‘good practice’ end to end business processes.
- Work with IT Project Managers and the Business Applications Lead – Supply Chain to ensure projects and change initiatives are delivered to time and budget
- Undertake root cause analysis activities to resolve and prevent ‘day to day support’ issues / incidents for the Supply Chain technology stream, seeking to ensure SLAs are met.
- Providing day to day support of the technology solutions within the Supply Chain stream ensuring the business are kept updated, issues and requests are actioned according to SLA, and any necessary escalations / vendor support are actioned
- Identify opportunities to improve or enhance the quality of the solutions in the Supply Chain technology stream.
- Follow the standards used within the IT department and business overall (as applicable) to the work being undertaken (eg. change control processes, etc.).
- The role may require occasional travel to sites across Nelsons, including the UK, USA, France and Germany.
Requirements
What you'll bring...
- Great business knowledge of supply chain end to end processes (manufacture / procure to pay, including warehousing and distribution) and how they fit into the overall business landscape, ideally gained in a number (2 to 4) of different organisations.
- Solid knowledge (gained over a number of years) of the SAP Materials Management (MM) module in SAP ECC6.0 (part of Business Suite 7), able to configure it while having an understanding of how it fits into the overall SAP landscape and end to end business processes. Knowledge of the SAP Production Planning (PP) module in SAP ECC6.0 would also be desirable.
- The ability to communicate effectively and confidently with key business stakeholders to deliver: 1. system development / enhancements processes (from requirements through to implementation), and 2. (day-to-day) support processes.
- Very good knowledge of core IT standards and working practices, including all aspects of the project lifecycle.
- A good knowledge of the fundamentals of EDI/IDocs and how it works in SAP.
- A working knowledge of technology integration principles.
- Experience of working with third party logistics providers would be ideal
- Able to think ‘big picture’ whilst also understanding the detail for own area.
- Confident leading the thinking whilst respectful of others and their opinions (constructive conversation as a key principle).
- A team player, keen to improve the overall performance and perception of the IT department.
- Collaborative in approach, forthcoming with own thoughts, but comfortable with consensus.
- A good listener with very good verbal and written communication skills.
- An ability to prioritise workload, for self and others in team.
