Are you a highly creative design individual who is interested in being part of one of the most exciting design studios in the world? GM Advanced Design Europe (GM ADE) is looking for an advanced interior designer to join our growing team in our brand new, state of the art design studio in Leamington Spa, UK.
As a Creative Interior Designer at GM ADE, you will be part of a larger, connected, global design team working on forward-thinking, extraordinary EV and AV concepts for Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer and Buick. We are looking for someone interested in challenging perceptions and pushing the boundaries of Interior Design into exciting new directions. As an Interior Designer, your role is to see the future - researching, designing and creating compelling proposals. We need someone with a considerable amount of perception, strategic thinking, design taste, judgment and creativity as well as a high level of talent and skill.
Building on a strong understanding of brand and strategy, you will generate innovative ideas and interior design concepts for automotive products in both 2D and 3D proposals. You will ideally have experience in working through the design process from sketch to final data release. Experience with Clay useful but not necessary. You must have exceptional visualization skills and can easily communicate your ideas to an audience. You have no problem refining ideas as you receive feedback.
You have a passion for design, innovation and are highly creative as demonstrated in your portfolio. You will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant design discipline (Automotive Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Exterior Design, Graphic Design or Architecture). Experience working in the automotive design industry is preferred, OEM internships will be considered. experience in the advanced side of the process would be beneficial.
A self-starter, your sophisticated communication skills will enable you to effortlessly build relationships. What You'll Do:
Create unique Interior designs and concepts for Concept cars, production vehicles and other mobility products through sketches as well as digitally through the use of 2D and 3D tools
Collaborate continually with the design team, Digital and Physical sculptors, Brand team and engineering teams in the development of new designs
Take a big-picture perspective on customer needs and future transportation to create provocative concepts and designs
Provide insight and recommendations to leadership while possessing willingness and acuity to act upon guidance in a deadline driven environment
Maintain knowledge of current design trends and technology. Present ideas frequently to management and leadership to communicate design ideas
Exhibit courage and challenge expectations
Your Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree in Design (Automotive, Transportation, Industrial)
Professional experience in Transportation Design (internships considered)
Strong understanding of 3D form and excellent 2D drawing and illustration skills
Proven creative proficiency
Demonstrated ability with electronic tools to communicate ideations
IT knowledge in relevant software – Photoshop, Alias, VRED, Blender, Office suite
