Job description

We are recruiting a Housing Assistant at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 hours per week – 7.4 hours Monday - Friday
Contract Type: Fixed Term for 12 months, Full Time
Location: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Caerphilly Homes Division

We pay an attractive salary of £23,500 - £23,893 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

The successful candidate will provide an efficient and effective housing management enquiry and advice service. The post works as part of the housing team and the housing assistant ensures that all policies and procedures and computer systems relating to the ordering and undertaking of repairs and maintenance are operated correctly and efficiently as well as ensuring that all policies and procedures and computer systems relating to allocations, lettings and voids are operated correctly and efficiently.

The Housing Assistant carries out clerical duties and assists the Estate Management Officers in the management of the following landlord functions and tasks as directed by the Area Housing Manager and Assistant Area Housing Manager:

Estate management.
Tenancy management.
Lettings and allocations.
Garage management.
Housing lists and administration.
Housing advice.
Empty property management.
Repairs and Maintenance (jointly with Asset Maintenance and Repairs).

The successful candidate will also assist in the overall administration of the repairs and maintenance service and obtain, coordinate, and distribute information from Asset Maintenance and Repairs, for repairs and maintenance in respect of response, planned, programmed and major works for the area.

For the role, we ask that you have:

5 GCSEs Grade A*-C or equivalent. Or Relevant Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework.
A good standard of practical knowledge of clerical duties.
Experience of working in a busy office environment.
