Job description

Fixed term contract for 2 years

Full-time, 35 hours per week

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Programme Manager to be part of The Small is Beautiful Project on the Isles of Scilly.

As our Programme Manager you will lead this project to reconnect wildflower and insect rich habitat, manage invasive vegetation, enhance biosecurity whilst maintaining the patchwork of farms and fields. A key element of the role is to oversee the design and feasibility for the first ever small-scale abattoir on the Islands.

You will be responsible for the delivery of the project’s initial two-year development phase. You will prepare and implement a project plan including managing timeframes, budgets, deliverables, risks, resources, procurement and coordinate activities needed to achieve the projects aims.

You will operate as the central focal point and ambassador of the project, manage the programme of works of the third-party contractors and consultants, and work to develop a blended finance model to secure long term investment.

A Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant environmental, landscape conservation, ecology and/or land management subject is preferred. Plus you will have proven professional experience and project management skills to deliver landscape scale change with partner organisations in nature conservation and/or land management sector

The role offers flexibility to be home based and to hot desk at St Marys, on the Isles of Scilly. An essential requirement of the role is to travel regularly to the Islands for multiple days as and when required.
