We’re currently recruiting for a Transport Manager to be based in our new customer site in Stowmarket. As part of this busy transport operation, you’ll ensure the timely and safe dispatch of drivers.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £50,000 per annum, plus car allowance. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead the Transport Operation always demonstrating the XPO core values
- Safe, legal compliance and efficient execution of transport operations, ensuring the network delivers SLA's/KPI's
- Collate all transport operations feedback using ‘Plan, Do, Review’ plus Plan vs Actual for daily meetings with transport team
- Responsible for driver and fleet legal compliance in accordance with Operator Licencing standards
- Full responsibility for all operator licence requirements, supported by CPC qualified XPO colleagues
- Fostering an environment that promotes sharing of ideas and best practice, benefiting the network & customer including gainshare initiatives for the contract
- Manage operational costs and identify operational cost trends - i.e. fuel performance/accidents etc.
- Positively drive the Transport team and operation to deliver the projects and operational initiatives, working with contract CI manager
- Focus on QHSE performance within transport, working with the central QHSE team to drive improvements
- Ensure all process and procedures are followed and that we operate a safe and efficient environment
- Provide leadership and guidance for the Transport team to enable them to meet objectives, encouraging open communication, constructive feedback, and engagement
- Provide leadership and guidance for the transport team, set annual objectives in success factors
- Ensure all ER cases are managed at site level, with the support of central HR team, in a timely and efficient manner
What you need to succeed at XPO:
- Knowledge of Paragon would be advantageous
- Success in building high performing teams
- Have experience of managing large fast paced transport operations
- Strong leadership skills being able to motivate and engage people at all levels
- Strong knowledge of Road Transport Regulations, Health & Safety, fleet compliance, RTD & WTD directives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good attention to detail.
- Strong decision-making skills, and a sense of responsibility plus accountability
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations professionally.
