Fishlake Village Choir

Job description
Organisation: Fishlake Village Choir
The Fishlake Village Choir was formed 10 years ago and comprises 25 to 30 singers (SATB) from Fishlake and the surrounding area.
Our aim is to provide an enjoyable opportunity for people to sing a wide repertoire of music, both sacred and secular, for enjoyment and performance. We usually have a Christmas concert and a Summer concert performed in our local church but also support local charities and community events where a choir may be appropriate.
Our current Choir Master, John Marsden BEM, has been with us since the start and during this time John has encouraged and developed the choir. He is about to retire thus creating the vacancy.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to continue the traditions of the choir and extend the remit of the choir – someone who enjoys all kinds of music who is good at encouraging people and has a sense of humour. John also undertook the role of accompanist , so skills in this area would be ideal. If this is not the case arrangements would be made to fulfil the role.
We can offer a fee/expenses and we need someone from February 2024.
Choir practice tends to be once per week for 1 hour in St. Cuthbert’s church in Fishlake. The choir is used to working flexibly to accommodate the needs of the Musical Director and the choir members.
