Painter & Decorator –

PURPOSE OF JOB:
To support Hackney Housing in providing throughout the London Borough of Hackney and other locations as directed, a high quality cyclical, planned and reactive repairs and maintenance service to internal and external elements of occupied and unoccupied properties, public buildings and associated external areas.  

Provide outstanding customer service and excellent standards of performance to the public and residents of Hackney.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
⦁ Carry out to the highest standard all aspects of painting and decorating and pre-paint repair works including a broad range of multi-skilled repair activities outside of the basic trade such as minor carpentry and plastering.

Including but not limited to –
⦁ All types of internal and external painting and decorating work, including chemical strip / burning off. Specialist coatings such as two part anti graffiti, anti mould, fire retardant coatings, stains and wallpapering.
⦁ Minor concrete repairs 
⦁ Mastic and sand cement pointing 
⦁ Resin repairs to joinery
⦁ Ease and adjust doors & windows. 
⦁ Patch repair to wall and ceiling finishes. 
⦁ Specialist Cleaning of UPVC windows.
⦁ Ease away electrical fittings in conjunction with other works and refix on completion. 

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
⦁ Hold a clean full  UK Drivers Licence
⦁ City and Guilds in NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating & or relevant experience.

SKILLS & ABILITY:
⦁ Able to work as a member of a team and self manage duties when working alone. 
⦁ Able to prioritise and use own initiative in organising and undertaking tasks.
⦁ The ability to read work specifications.
⦁ Good practical skills with a careful and methodical approach to work.
⦁ Good numeric skills for calculating quantities.
⦁ A polite and professional manner for dealing with customers. 
⦁ Able to work from heights and follow safety instructions.
⦁ Has good communication and customer service skills both verbally, written and face to face.
⦁ The ability to erect a temporary platform to carry out work from, following appropriate Health and Safety procedures.
⦁ To work in confined spaces, with noise and dust etc. while wearing the correct PPE.
⦁ Provide reasonable performance and productivity in conducting all your duties in relation to your work and all work related documentation.
