We have an exciting opportunity for an Archives Assistant to join Heritage Quay, the University of Huddersfield’s award-winning, accredited archives and records management service. Heritage Quay’s collection strengths are in Art & Design, Education, Literature, Music, Politics, Sport, and Theatre & Performance.
The Archives and Records Management Service at Heritage Quay is a small team, which is part of Computing and Library Services. The team is managed by the University Archivist and the University Records Manager and includes Archivist (Public Service) (1fte), Assistant Records Manager (0.5fte), Public Engagement Officer (0.5fte), Public Engagement Assistant (0.8fte), and two Archives Assistants (1.5fte).
As an Archives Assistant, you will act as the first point of contact for customers accessing the collections at Heritage Quay. You will report to the Archivist (Public Service). You will answer enquiries and facilitate access to collections. You will undertake retrievals and returns, assist with housekeeping tasks, collections-based work, social media and occasional outreach activities and events.
With 2 A Levels or equivalent, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will be able to work effectively as part of a team small team and provide excellent customer service. With excellent attention to detail, you will be able to answer enquiries and requests for information efficiently and effectively. You will have good IT skills, including experience of using spreadsheets and Microsoft Office 365, and social media.
Days of work will be Tuesday to Thursday with the exact working pattern discussed with the successful candidate.
