Job description
We are currently working with an exciting start-up company based in Cambridge that is working on bringing to market a high-density, low-cost energy storage application. As the company continues to grow with recent funding secured, they are now recruiting for a Senior Process Development Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.
This role will see you working with cutting-edge technology – acting as the company’s subject matter expert when it comes to process development. As Senior Process Development Engineer, you will lead the validation of new technology and its implementation into new prototypes – whilst having the ability to contribute to scale-up activities.
Senior Process Development Engineer responsibilities
Lead the validation of new technology and its implementation into new prototypes.
Lead the development and optimisation of prototype production processes with a focus on improving consistency and performance.
Assist in managing the interface between the research and prototype development teams.
Project manage technicians to ensure a consistent supply of required materials for prototype development and provide troubleshooting support where necessary.
Contribute to the scale-up of technology.
Consider long term manufacturing strategies for technology with respect to potential future commercial applications and products.
Senior Process Development Engineer requirements
Degree level qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related.
Several years of industry experience – working in an R&D environment.
Process development and optimisation experience, particularly when working with chemical products.
Experience in the scale-up of formulations or processes from laboratory bench to pilot line.
Creation and management of standard operating procedures, work instructions and quality control specifications.
Project management experience, leading small teams to achieve short/medium term objectives.
Knowledge of product development methodologies.
Willingness to be hands on.
Teamwork experience and good communication skills.
Desire to work in a dynamic R&D environment with early-stage technology.
