WHAT TO EXPECT
This role is based within Component and Sub-System Testing (CST) in JLR’s Engineering Laboratories, a collection of world-class, cutting-edge automotive testing facilities. CST plays an integral part in physical Verification & Validation (V&V) within the JLR systems engineering landscape, directly influencing the delivery of the world’s most desirable vehicles.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Complete physical rig testing in accordance with JLR testing standards and procedures, to ensure successful delivery of test programme activity to time, cost and quality.
• Preparation of test rig and test samples, execution of tests processes, collection & analysis of test data, post-test de-preparation and reporting out of test results.
• Collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders during CST test activity i.e. customers, subject matter experts, test engineers & technicians, rig design & manufacture engineers etc.
• Assist in the continual improvement of test methods to enhance the CST service offering.
• Ensure test facilities are maintained to high standards through application of appropriate quality tools including TPM and 5S.
• Support all activities that result in a positive outcome from any audit e.g. IATF16949 (Quality), ISO45001 (H&S) and ISO 14001 (Environmental).
• This is a shift-based role.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Awareness of physical test systems and closed loop control.
• Appreciation of data acquisition techniques.
• A structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.
• The ability to understand and prepare engineering documents.
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiar with engineering facility operations and applicable health and safety practices.
• Good communication skills.
• Experience utilising mechatronic control systems to support test activity.
• Knowledge of instrumentation calibration processes.
• Awareness of programming/scripting languages.
