Job description
This role is a trainee role with the aim of becoming a qualified Senior PMVA Instructor / Clinical Advisor. The employee will follow a 12-18 month mentorship and training programme in order to become fully competent and able to go into the Band 5 Senior PMVA Instructor / Clinical Advisor Role.
To provide training, instruction, education and specialist technical support and advice to services.
The Senior PMVA Instructor will provide coordination, first line advice and organisation for the day-to-day delivery of the training service and work of the apprentices.
The post holder will deliver courses and packages of training, which they may assist in developing, in the prevention and management of violence and aggression (PMVA), moving and handling, conflict resolution, Basic Life Support, gym training, and medical gases training. The training will be provided across the whole trust footprint to internal staff as well as to external customers as part of external income generation.
The Senior PMVA Instructor / Clinical Support Advisor will offer support and advice to clinical services in providing least restrictive interventions with service users who may be challenging and are in need of enhanced care plans.

Training Delivery
• To deliver training packages, incorporating practical teaching and instruction sessions, to Pennine Care staff/teams and externally to other public, private and charitable organisations as part of income generation activity.
• To deliver mandatory training packages including prevention and management of violence and aggression (PMVA), moving and handling, conflict resolution, Basic

Life Support, gym training, and medical gases training, incorporating practical teaching and instruction sessions. These sessions will be delivered internally to Pennine Care staff/teams and externally to other public, private and charitable organisations as part of income generation activity.
• To ensure that training is delivered consistently across staff groups meeting the agreed learning outcomes.
• To work in partnership with the Trust's network of subject matter experts (SMEs) co-delivering some training and working as part of the wider team responsible for mandatory training.
• To maintain safe training techniques, environments and equipment.
• To assess the level of competence and capability of students attending the PMVA and mandatory courses, reporting any concerns to the appropriate line manager where necessary.
• To maintain appropriate training records in conjunction with the established Education & Training systems.
• To review the effectiveness of training and education activities using appropriate evaluation tools that are in line with the Reducing Restriction Network training standards.
• To assist in the planning and coordination of training for PMVA and mandatory training.
• To participate in peer reviews with other organisations and development days as part of RRN accreditation.
Specialist Advice and Support
• Responsible for coaching and training identified clinical staff and teams with support plans for service users (including in patient, home and community interventions and inclusion as appropriate).
• Work with identified teams and clinical health staff to review interventions for service users to ensure that all interventions are based on functional assessment, have good contextual fit within a collaborative approach and are effective in supporting service users in working with behaviour’s that may challenge.
• To work within clinical services on bespoke days to offer advice and role modelling for clinical interventions related to PMVA and reducing restrictive practice.
• Advise and assess needs of patients with specific difficulties. i.e. limb deformities etc. and formulate individual treatment and intervention strategies.
• Advise and modify techniques taught to overcome the difficulties created by specific problematical environments and geographical locations.
• The post holder is responsible for recording advice given relating to the management of violence and aggression within the relevant clinical notes system.
• The post holder may be asked to review Trust Incident forms relating to the subject area of PMVA and provide input into these.
• To act as a specialist resource in assisting with Serious Untoward Incident reviews.
