Band 5 Biomedical Scientist/Healthcare Science Practitioner
Full time 37.5 hours per week. Permanent post.
Applications are invited for a band 5 HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists to join our professional team.
You will be expected to support the department in ensuring a high quality service that meets national standards and expectations towards UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service)
Applications for such a prominent and sought after post are expected to be high, so the service may close prior to the advertised closing date, depending on levels/numbers of applications
You will perform routine procedures involving scientific, technical and interpretive work to assist midwives and clinicians. Communication with users of the service will also play a role in the day to day work.
For the main duties of the role, please see the attached Job Description - these include:
• Following the POCT Policy, laboratory guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and to maintain up to date knowledge of all Trust policies.
• Performing all technical procedures in the department with a high level of skill and dexterity ensuring performance of POCT devices to be used in the clinical care of patients.
• Troubleshooting, assessing and rectifying POCT device or IT failure using established procedures and deciding on course of action to be taken and report any non-functioning device to the section manager or supplier as appropriate.
• Liaising with all groups of healthcare professionals by phone, email and in-person to provide a safe and effective POCT service. This often requires tact and diplomacy.
• Utilise knowledge and skills to drive innovation - which provides better, more accessible care for patients.
