With at least two years’ managerial experience, ideally in the Bulk Haulage industry you will be a committed road transport person with a natural flair for achieving the best possible performance in everything you do!
We're looking for a customer-focused approach, the ability to motivate others and build good working relationships, both internally and externally. This is an additional position, intended to strengthen our enthusiastic and committed team. Position will be permanent full-time, with a competitive salary and a discretionary bonus scheme.
What you’ll be doing as Transport Manager
- Helping to supervise the transport office and around 100 drivers, ensuring that service levels are in line with customer expectations and communicating effectively in the event of necessary changes to the plan.
- Working with HR to provide recruitment and disciplinary support when necessary.
- Managing current customer relationships as well as developing new opportunities
- Working closely with the Traffic Managers to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation
- Liaising with the Fleet engineer and his team to ensure compliance with PMI’s, brake testing schedules and other non-routine maintenance.
- Maintaining a high level of morale and encouraging and developing individual potential.
What we're looking for in you
- A good level of commercial acumen
- Management Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Full clean UK driving licence, ideally with LGV Class 1 entitlement (cat C+E) and bulk tipping experience.
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge of Transport Management Systems, familiar with tachograph analysis software
- Strong Management skills, able to demonstrate leadership, take responsibility and willing to be accountable.
- Willing to be contacted “out of hours” and take corrective “front line” actions if necessary.
- Working hours: An average of 50 hours per week including some Saturdays. Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be flexible about start, finish times and working additional hours in accordance with the needs of the business.
