Vacancy Name Senior Machine Learning Scientist Vacancy No VN484 Location City London, Porto, Belfast, North West or Letterkenny Overview of Role FinTrU has an exciting opening for a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to join the FinTrU Data Science team to work in partnership with Product Management and Engineering to support and deliver on our Product Strategy and Vision.
We are doing some extremely exciting work, leveraging LLM to codify knowledge across financial documents, and looking to expand to large multimodal models in the future.
Machine Learning will sit at the core of our product – as such, you will have the unique opportunity to explore and build state of the art AI models and use them in a real life scenario.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Scientist to help us get there. There is scope for the position to evolve over time to a more leadership role if that’s something that can be of interest. Job Details
Responsibilities :
- Help define and execute the ML modelling roadmap, finding the right compromise between exploring new approaches and delivering value
- Staying up to with the latest AI development, and accordingly suggest improvements to our roadmap and approaches, and disseminate learnings to team mates
- Help establish standards and best practices around Machine Learning – training and testing framework, coding standards, engineering practices
- Help shape the design of the product, offering and taking inputs on how to integrate ML models
- Coach and mentor junior members of the team
- Create clear and concise technical and non-technical documentation
- Cross-functional collaboration with Engineers, Architect, DevOps but also UX and Product designers
- Occasionally present results to stakeholders (peers and leaders from product, engineering, DevOps)
Skills/Experience: - 5y+ experience in Machine Learning modelling, Data Science or equivalent
- Experience building and shipping ML models across different applications – with some solid experience in NLP and using Hugging Face
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of ML and Deep Learning, with knowledge close to current state of the art
- Working knowledge of at least one ML framework, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, Keras, etc (we are using PyTorch)
- Experience with ML best practices, with some tooling and libraries, such as ML Flow, W&B, annotation tools, fast.ai, etc.
- Some experience setting up environments for models training, e.g. using GPUs, performance logging, some basic knowledge of VMs
- Highly effective communicator, proficient with both technology and non-technology stakeholders
Nice to have: - Publication track record in Deep Learning / Machine Learning
- Open source contributor experience
- Experience working in cloud environments (we are currently using Azure)
- Experience developing with containers and Kubernetes
- Experience with training and testing framework, feature store, model distillation, monitoring
- Experience and understanding of Financial Services as a domain, especially wealth management and investment banking
- Previous experience in a client-facing role enabling you to work with FinTrU's clients to clearly articulate the role and operation of models within our Products
