Job description
We are recruiting for a Buyer to join a friendly, fast-paced, and well-established company based on the outskirts of St Albans.
Our client provides specialist construction, engineering, and facilities management solutions to organisations of all sizes and across a range of sectors. As a standalone Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the most appropriate goods and services are selected on the basis of price, quality and delivery times whilst ensuring profitability at all times.

Due to the location, you need to be a driver
This role is 100% office based

Key responsibilities:
Seek quotes on prices and availability of materials from a variety of suppliers
Purchase goods, supplies and other relevant services
Identify potential suppliers and new products
Liaise between suppliers and relevant internal departments
Closely monitor and report delivery schedules to and from sites
Keep detailed records and maintain a well organised work schedule
Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives
Assessing the reliability of suppliers and delivery performance
Agree an Approved supplier list and monitor
Ensure all materials comply with Health and Safety guidelines
Arrange meetings with suppliers
What the employer is looking for:
Experience within a similar Buyer role
At least a level 2 Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations
Excellent understanding of numeric data
A proactive and flexible attitude
Strong Communication skills and a collaborative planner
Strong attention to detail
Great problem-solving and negotiating skills
Methodical, organised and able to work under pressure
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of the building services and FM industry a bonus!
Due to the location, a driving license and own car is essential
