Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced speech and language therapist to join the Community Neurological Conditions management team ( CNCMT ) at the Neurological Rehabilitation Centre ( NRC ) . The postholder will work in conjunction with another part time B7 role covering the inpatient level 2 unit at the NRC . You will be joining a friendly and innovative MDT and be responsible for the provision of highly specialist neurological speech and language therapy to individuals with a range of neurological conditions who present with complex needs such as MND, and brain injury. You will hold a community/outpatient caseload with a variety of rehab, long-term and progressive conditions.
This position presents an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical, service development and supervisory skills and would be ideal for someone looking to expand their community neurological rehabilitation skills and MDT working . Applicants must have established skills in dysphagia management and acquired communication disorder and excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team are essential.

• To provide an expert SLT (Speech and Language Therapy) service to adults with a range of neurological conditions based within the Community Neurological Conditions Management Team (CNCMT).
• To assess and treat own caseload of patients with a range a speech, language, communication, and swallowing needs.
• To hold a community and outpatient caseload
• Responsible for acting as a case co-ordinator/ keyworker for allocated patients.
• Supervise, line manage and teach more junior members of the team including, qualified SLT’s, students and rehab assistants as well as being involved in teaching of senior SLT’s and other multidisciplinary team (MDT) staff.
• Lead on and comply with professional and departmental standards of practice within own clinical area.
• Lead the CNCMT SLT team and present evidence-based projects and research including departmental audit and service developments.
• To have responsibility for the day-to-day service delivery of Speech and Language Therapy for the community service, promote the review and planning of the service with support and direction from the Clinical Lead CNCMT, Clinical Lead for Neurorehabilitation and colleagues in the multidisciplinary team.
• To develop and establish strong communication links and liaison with speech and Language therapy teams in the trust and external organisations as appropriate to the needs of people with neurogenic communication and swallowing difficulties
• Deputise for senior staff in their absence.
