Job description

Hours of work: 26 hours to be worked Monday – Friday between 9am – 4pm with some occasional weekend and evenings in agreement with your Line Manager

Contract Type: 12 month fixed term

GFM is a not-for-profit community radio station, providing skills, training and work experience to disadvantaged people in Gloucester, and supporting public health and community cohesion in Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.

We are looking for a Community Radio Operations Coordinator to join our team, who is passionate about supporting our local community and can play a key role in co-ordinating the operational delivery at Gloucester FM.

This will include the coordination and management of GFM broadcast output, and related activities involving programming content via our Enco DAD automated music playlist system.

You will work closely with the board to engage local community groups, mainstream agencies, and local businesses in participating at the station, creating opportunities to continue to build on these relationships within our community and beyond.

You will also work confidently in leading projects and events, along with delivering grant-funded and other partnership projects.

And will have the responsibility of line managing our volunteers including involvement in the full employee life cycle, including recruitment, identifying training needs, and performance management.

We’d like you to have

• The ability to carry out efficient project management, budgeting, record keeping, and managing contracts.
• The ability to prioritise and manage workload without regular supervision.
• Understanding and commitment to Diversity & Inclusion.
• An understanding of the ethos of community orientated, not-for-profit media
• The ability to understand and create radio that reflects the concerns and interests of GFM target community.
• Technical skills in sound recording, editing and radio production.
• Proficiency in scheduling and automated playout systems. Training will be provided to understand the systems adopted by GFM if this not known.
• The ability to be tactful and sensitive but assertive when appropriate.
• Excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills.
• A willingness to undergo any needed training in audio productions skills and any other training deemed necessary by the board of Directors.
• Experience of developing income generation in the voluntary sector.
• The ability to form professional relationships and a wide range of people and organisations.
• Ability to handle multiple projects as they develop.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of ages and abilities.
• Ability to negotiate and liaise with a range of agencies, community groups, local authority departments and businesses.
• Experience of line managing Volunteers.
