Job description

We are looking to hire an experienced electro-mechanical maintenance lead on a permanent basis based at the John Crane Slough production facility. The maintenance lead will ensure the gas seal test rigs and associated plant and equipment are maintained to maximise up time and optimum performance whilst ensuring all HSE and quality processes and procedures are in line with the business requirements.

The role is Monday to Friday during normal office hours.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for gas seal production test rigs and associated plant and equipment.
• Perform reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities in a safe, timely and efficient manner to ensure the optimum equipment performance.
• Assist with validation of new and existing equipment.
• Generate maintenance work orders and performance reports using the eMaint software.
• Generate and update HSE and quality risk assessments, processes, procedures and status reports. Participate in audits and HSE reviews when required.
• Generate and update training programmes/records for the maintenance team.
• Build, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot complex Electro-Mechanical assemblies using procedures, prints, written instructions, or verbal communication.
• Troubleshoot, repair and properly document machine issues.
• Troubleshoot / diagnose PLC/HMI control systems software when possible.
• Provide first line supervision to on-site contractors activities.
• Support other onsite maintenance work when required.
• Support and drive SES (Smiths Excellence system) activities within the area.

The Individual

• Proven experience in maintaining electromechanical equipment is essential for this role.
• Must be able to sand electrical and mechanical components (aluminum, brass) and be able to follow specific instructions on the treatment or preparation of materials for subassembly production.
• Experience in rotating equipment and supervising a small maintenance team is an advantage.
• Qualified to work on high-pressure (air) equipment and piping.
• Experienced in reading technical, P&ID drawings and fault diagnoses is mandatory.
• Experience in supervising contractors and their activities on site. Ensure their appropriate documentation and permits are valid and correct.
• Proficient in maintenance software and MS Office.
• Familiar with operational / shop floor best practices and performance standards.
• Decision making ability and good influencing / team working skills.
• Time management and organisational skills.
• Self-driven with good attention to detail.
